Baking a Cake

Vanilla cake

Inspired by: Sugar Spun Run

Ingredients:

  • 4 eggs

  • 1 TBSP vanilla extract

  • 1 TBSP baking powder

  • 3 cups all purpose flour

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (softened)

  • 1/2 cup canola oil

  • 1 1/2 cup granulated sugar

  • 1 1/4 cup buttermilk

  • 1/2 TSP salt

Chocolate cake

Inspired by: Lil Luna

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups sugar

  • 1 1/2 teaspoon baking soda

  • 1 cup milk

  • 2 eggs

  • 2 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • 1 cup boiling water

  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • 2 teaspoon baking powder

  • 3/4 cup cocoa powder

  • 2 cups all purpose flour

Vanilla Cake Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350F (177C) 

  2. Prepare two round cake pans by lining the bottom with parchment paper and lightly greasing the sides. 

  3. Take out a bowl and an electric mixer and cream together the butter, sugar, and canola oil until it looks creamy and is well combined.

  4. One at a time, add the eggs. Make sure to beat them after adding each one. 

  5. Add in the vanilla extract

  6. In a separate bowl, mix together flour, salt, and baking powder. 

  7. Add flour mixture and butter milk into the butter mixture. Mix together

  8. Divide your batter evenly between the two pans that you have prepared and bake at 350F for 30-35 minutes. 

  9. Allow cakes to cool for about 10 minutes

  10. Now you’re done! Enjoy!

Chocolate Cake Instructions:

  1. Line the bottom of two round cake pans with parchment paper and grease the sides 

  2. Preheat oven to 350F

  3. Whisk the baking powder, sugar, cocoa powder, flour, baking soda, and salt in a large mixing bowl.

  4. Then, whisk in the oil, eggs, milk, and vanilla. 

  5. Next, stir in the boiling water.

  6. Divide batter evenly between the two pans 

  7. Bake at 350F for 30-35 minutes

  8. Let cool for about 10 minutes

  9. Now you are done! Enjoy
